Hundreds of people already living in the oasis or wishing to live there meet there to share their experiences, their successes, their discouragements, their dreams... It is also an opportunity for a wider audience to discover this way of life. .
This year, the Oasis Festival will take place from August 23 to 27 at the ecovillage of Sainte-Camelle (Ariège) and will take the form of a summer university.
The objective will be to explore the political, cultural, social and economic dimensions of life in the school, through testimonies of inhabitants and inhabitants of schoolchildren but also of sociologists, philosophers, economists and artists able to answer to this question :
How are oases laboratories for experimenting with new ways of socializing together?
During this event, which is aimed at 500 participants, various formats will be offered: conferences, round tables, workshops, mini-trainings and visits and presentations of Oasis.
All this in a festive and family atmosphere!
Three fundamental pillars anchor the philosophy of fertile disobedience:
The human species is not condemned to degrade the environments that shelter it.
We can all become guardians of the Living.
And precisely, we invite you to become its guardians.
“A day will come when our society will be judged not by the way it has dominated nature, but by how wild it has been able to safeguard. »
Before starting to get to the heart of the matter, Jonathan Attias summarizes the law and its application. Before 2014, there was no real statute that explained what light housing is. Since the ALUR law, the notion of “removable residence” has been defined. It is a habitat that has no footprint, in other words that has no foundation, with no size limit. Contrary to what we imagine with the term "light habitat", we can quite have space and a yurt of 50 m2 for example.
The ALUR law also determines the legal framework that applies to the removable residence, through the STECAL (sectors of limited size and capacity) which are areas within the local urban plans that can derogate from the building areas. traditional to allow light housing to be installed there.
Before 2014, STECALs could only be determined by the town halls. Since the ALUR law and the latest territorial reforms, things have become more complex: if you want to put a STECAL in a municipality, you have to go through a departmental commission, the CDPENAF, and come to an agreement with the whole of the surrounding municipalities, within the framework of the local inter-municipal urban plan.
All those who go knocking on the door of a town hall to ask for help should not expect it to open its arms to you, because it has lost its right of decision. On the other hand, she has earned the right to denounce you.
“City halls today are deprived of this right to decide. So it's not worth asking them for permission because it embarrasses them."
Aurélie Moy is a young polytechnic engineer specializing in sustainable development. She came up with this idea for a Tiny Houses village in 2018 while designing her own Tiny House SuSy (short for Sustainable Systems). With a large family plot of 3500m² near the city center of Saint-Brieuc, the young woman decided to create the first village of Tiny Houses in order to promote this more environmentally friendly way of life.
Indeed, living in a Tiny House means choosing minimalism, living with less material possessions to live happily.
The Ty village houses are built with a wooden frame and made with mainly natural, renewable and local materials. They are well insulated to allow residents to live there year-round.
This minimalist way of life is all too often accompanied by administrative difficulties. Even if, since the ALUR law, the Tiny Houses are recognized as light habitats, the owners of Tiny Houses still have difficulty obtaining authorizations to settle.
By creating this village, Aurelie wanted to make this way of life accessible to those who wish to experience life in a Tiny House. After battling with the town hall to obtain planning permission, Ty village was able to welcome its first 5 Tiny Houses in 2019. Today, there are around twenty. The Tiny Houses on the land are currently rented out during term time for students. In summer, they are available by the week or by the night for tourists and the curious who wish to experience life in a Tiny House. In addition to these rentals of Tiny Houses, Ty Village also wishes to offer land for rent for owners who want to settle on land. Pitches are thus available to accommodate owners and their tiny.

Happy sobriety. Fewer goods, more links. How to live in a more eco-responsible way, with respect for oneself, others and nature?
Autonomy, eco-construction, alternative school, market gardening in permaculture and/or agro-ecology, shared governance, local currency, non-violent communication... community life initiatives favoring conviviality, mutual aid and decline already exist everywhere in France And in the world.
Here is an overview of the most inspiring initiatives and testing grounds.
The fatalistic tone gave way to a breath of hope. While the author initially asserted that “transition is dead” and “utopia bounded”, his new work invites in a “vital” way to “revolution” through an “enlightened utopia”.
“We absolutely have to rethink everything, question, deconstruct everything, decondition. Transition ? No, REVOLUTION! »
The Brigandes recorded two songs, one about NATO and its imperialist ambitions:
- Les Brigandes – NATO soldier (2017)
Another in support of the “Russian” people of Donbass, who are fighting for their independence:
- Les Brigandes – A million roses (2016)
Let's imagine a new society together!
The Archipelago of the Living aims to develop local resilience and facilitate cooperation between existing alternative initiatives in order to bring out a new society that takes care of the living, without any relationship of domination and truly democratic.
Let's be clear! Let's stop trying to change the system, let's change THE system.
It is up to us citizens to write a new story together!
