Social organism and tri-articulation

A "human" future is in reality only conceivable on the basis of a " social tri-articulation in which the universal human ideals of freedom, equality as well as fraternity are researched and achieved.

Here is a brief description of the essential characteristics and content of what could be called a new science. It should be noted at the outset that this is a new way of thinking that is fundamentally different from all current 'socio-scientific' and political thinking, because it is 'organic thinking'. This is based on the fact that we are dealing here with an “organism”. Thinking in terms of processes of organic metamorphosis (morphology) is necessary for this approach to social science.

“Private property is a result of social creativity which is associated with individual human capacity. »

Rudolf Steiner – GA 23 and 24 – 1919

Man, human dignity and the social organism

By “human”, we mean “worthy of man”, that is to say which does justice to the dignity of man. Human dignity is inherent in our conception of human beings.

We start from the fundamental idea that humanity forms a whole, a social organism, even a meta-organism, which also includes the dimension of the soul and the spirit of the human being. We can also include the other living kingdoms and Nature. We also call this whole “society”, and not “the State”! The state is only part of society. This means that humanity is globally interconnected in a living way on three levels.

These three levels are the legal life (abbreviated “policy“), economic life (abbreviated “economy“) and cultural or spiritual life. In these three spheres, there are three values whose right implementation brings about the health of the organism, that is to say the “social health” of humanity. But if these three values are misused then they bring "social disease".

These three values are called liberty, equality and fraternity.

Each of the three values is assigned to a single sphere, freedom to spiritual life – which includes science, education, instruction, art and religion.

Equality applies exclusively to legal life – only before the law are people equal and should be treated the same.

And fraternity, that is to say the decent sharing of income, economic life.

Any other affectation, that is to say any attempt to live these values in another sphere, inevitably leads to serious social imbalances which will manifest themselves in the form of wars, famines, economic wars, economic difficulties, social unrest, environmental destruction, a widening gap between rich and poor, etc.

So, under the Communism, among other things, equality was sought in the economy, which, as we know, led to the death of the social organism. In the capitalism neoliberal, on the other hand, freedom is assigned to the economy, which we currently also experience as a massive disease of the social organism with the well-known global crises. Here, the principle of freedom becomes a creeping crisis, a predator, because there is no fraternal balance.

We have today in the world the reality of the so-called "unitary state" (new world order), in which everything is centered on legal life and where there is an unhealthy control on the part of the state authorities. We experience this to the extreme in education through the political influence of public schools and in health care through political control (health dictatorship).

Tri-joint

Economic, legal and cultural-spiritual life

“Social tri-articulation” designates a real division of society into three autonomous bodies managed independently, where the State is only one of the three authorities.

Economic life

The humanization of the economic order

Legal life

The democratization of the political sphere

spiritual life

The liberation of cultural-spiritual life

With each other and for each other

The three “organ systems” are living and interdependent, although each is autonomous in its own sphere. One can take as an analogy the human organism, with the three autonomous systems which are the metabolism, the nervous system and the cardio-pulmonary system, as a “rhythmic system”. The overlapping of one system over the other produces disease. For example, the overlap of the metabolism on the nervous system produces migraine. The metabolic system is also the nutritional system. It therefore forms the basis of the other two. The nerves must be supplied with substances for man to be able to think, that is, for his mental life to be active. Matter is spiritualized in us, so to speak.

In the osocial organization, there is a similar "nutritional principle". We have to ask ourselves: what is the “root”? What provides the economy with nutrients? What are the nutrients, what does the economy need to be able to function, that is, to produce in the first place?

These are the ideas and capacities of men! It is therefore a question of the spiritual life! We bring our spirit into the world. It is “materialized”, so to speak.

It is therefore not the economy (being) that determines the mind (consciousness), but exactly the opposite. Spiritual life fertilizes, nourishes and determines economic life.
