While German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach wants to draw up a heat protection plan for Germany, many countries around the world are complaining about low temperatures and the use of geoengineering.

According to a dispatch from tagesschau.de from June 13, 2023, German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has announced that he wants to draw up a heat protection plan for Germany. “We have to see,” Lauterbach said, “that we are not well positioned in Germany against heat death.” According to the Minister of Health, a heat wave plan that France would have developed should serve as a model. But what about heat problems in other countries? Here are some examples: India: On May 4, 2023, the Indian capital New Delhi recorded the third coldest May morning since 1901. As in the rest of the world, winter cold is a bigger problem than summer heat in Delhi . According to studies, 6,5% of all deaths in India are due to short-term temperature extremes, 88% due to cold weather and only 12% due to hot weather.

Alaska: April 2023 was a historically cold month for all of Alaska, with an average temperature of -8,7 degrees Celsius. It was the fourth coldest April since 99, when the first temperature records were recorded. Snow fell again until May.

Australia: In May 2023, the years-long cooling trend continued in Australia. From the beginning of the month, the lowest May temperatures for 85 years were recorded in a large number of places.

Argentina: At the end of May 2023, thousands of Chilean travelers found themselves stranded by snow in the Argentine province of Mendoza. The Cristo Redentor path, which connects Argentina to Chile, was closed due to heavy snowfall.

Russia: Historically low temperatures were recorded in Yubileinaya, Yakutia, where the temperature fell well below the usual seasonal values. On May 13, the thermometer there fell to -24,5°C, surpassing the previous May minimum of -24,1°C, recorded 70 years ago, in 1958. The region also experienced steep drops of snow.

Ukraine: Ukraine experienced unusual cold and snow conditions this spring.

Mongolia: Mongolia faced a freezing winter in 2022/23 which Save the Children says led to massive livestock losses and the suffering of 212 people. Even in late spring, the country continued to be hit by deadly snowstorms.

Britain: In the UK, the year 2023 was cold and wet until the end of May, and spring still refused to start in mid-May. Even senior meteorologists couldn't explain why the grim winter conditions dragged on, and were themselves shocked at – and I quote them – “all the heavy frosts we've had this spring”.

Spain: The sometimes record rainfall in Europe continued to be accompanied by abnormally cold weather which caused that at higher altitudes much of the rain fell as spring snow. This was even the case in southern Spain.
