Equality and ReconciliationHow Wikipedia Became a Tool for Information Control

Equality and Reconciliation - August 13, 2023

Wikipedia, symbol of open knowledge, would have become a tool of manipulation, affirms Larry Sanger, co-founder of the encyclopedia. The CIA and the FBI would have edited articles, in order to control certain narratives.

Wikipedia, one of the many resources used by the US deep state and its allies in the intelligence community, has become an instrument of "control", according to Larry Sanger, co-founder of the site, in an interview with the journalist Glenn Greenwald.

Speaking on Glenn Greenwald's "System Update" podcast, Sanger laments how the site he helped create in 2001 has become an instrument of manipulation in the hands of the left-liberal establishment, including the CIA, FBI and other US intelligence agencies.

"We have evidence that as early as 2008, CIA and FBI computers were being used to modify Wikipedia," he said. “Do you think they stopped doing it at that time? »

CIA and FBI activity on Wikipedia was first made public in 2007 by a programming student named Virgil Griffith. Griffith developed a program called WikiScanner that could track the location of computers used to edit Wikipedia articles, and discovered that the CIA, FBI, and many large corporations and government agencies were cleaning the online encyclopedia of compromising information.

CIA computers were used to suppress accounts of victims of the Iraq war, while an FBI computer was used to suppress aerial and satellite images of the US prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. CIA computers were used to edit hundreds of articles, including those on former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, China's nuclear program and the Argentine navy.

Some edits were more trivial, with former CIA chief William Colby apparently editing his own entry to expand his list of accomplishments.

The-Citizen-GazetteWikipedia culture, editorial clutter and lies

The Citizen's Gazette - June 24, 2020

Perhaps the biggest farce in modern tech history is Wikipedia's perception of a legitimate encyclopedia. This site has no qualifications as such, but has all the characteristics of a propaganda machine disguised as an encyclopedia.

Wikipedia has become an ochlocracy, a form of majoritarian governance that bows to the chaos of people power. Editorial management positions are not based on intellectual qualities or subject matter expertise; instead, editorial management drifted into a merit-based aristocracy, itself determined by the number of successful entries and edits.

Obviously, the Foundation does not have the capacity to control the editorial hostility, the malignity, the harassment, the toxic behaviors which are current in the encyclopedia.
