Last week, I wondered about the reality of the rivalry between the United States and China. Perhaps the “Thucydides trap” is just a smokescreen that masks the impending disintegration of the “American empire”.
In this article, I summarize his career that Westerners have not understood, and I invite you to think about what may happen when he disappears.
The USSR collapsed on itself, not from the war in Afghanistan (1979-89), but from the Chernobyl disaster (April 26, 1986). The Soviets suddenly realized that the state no longer controlled anything. Members of the Warsaw Pact, which Leonid Brezhnev had made vassals, revolted. Churches, Communist Youth and Gays in East Germany brought down the Berlin Wall [1]. Not only did the USSR not react, but it abandoned its allies outside Europe, notably Cuba. Party First Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev transformed himself from reformer to liquidator. The USSR broke up, creating many new independent states. Then it was the descent into hell. A few “New Russians” appropriated public property and waged machine-gun warfare in the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Production collapsed. It became difficult to find food in many Russian regions. Life expectancy fell sharply by fifteen years. The fall was so brutal that no one would have thought that the country would recover quickly.
Simultaneously, the United States imagines what it could do without a rival. President George H. Bush Sr., speaking before the assembled Congress on September 11, 1990, launched the idea of a “New World Order”. He just staged a war in the Gulf that almost every state in the world is joining. Even before the dissolution of the USSR, the United States became the superpower that no one disputes [2]. The Straussian Paul Wolfowitz develops a doctrine aimed at preventing the emergence of a new competitor, which would take the place of the Soviet Union. He points without hesitation to the political project of François Mitterrand and Helmut Köhl, the European Union, as the enemy to be defeated. This was flawed from the outset with the obligation to have all the States of the Warsaw Pact and the former USSR adhere to it until its institutions became impracticable and the inclusion in the Maastricht Treaty of defense of the EU by Washington.
The Pentagon is so sure of no longer having an adversary equal to it that it demobilizes 1 million men once Iraq has been crushed. The research and development units of the armies are dissolved. President Bush Senior believes that this war is the last and that an era of prosperity is beginning.

How Russia sees its role in building the multipolar world

Russia has just released its “Foreign Policy Concept”.
After recalling its position in the world, this document describes the end of Western domination and the efforts of the United States and its allies to maintain Washington's hegemony. It lists Moscow's interests and goals. It emphasizes the primacy of contemporary international law (a creation of Tsar Nicholas II) and concludes with a description of the changing world.
President Vladimir Putin met his Security Council by videoconference on March 31, 2023. At the end of this meeting, he promulgated an update of the “Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation”.
In this document, Russia sets out its vision of its role in building the multipolar world.
Firstly, Russia recalls its significant resources in all spheres of life, its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, its participation in major international organizations and associations, its nuclear powers and its capacity as successor in rights of the USSR. Above all, given its decisive contribution to the victory in the Second World War and its active participation in the liquidation of the world system of colonialism, it asserts itself as one of the sovereign centers of world development and considers as its historical mission the maintenance of global balance of powers and the construction of a multipolar international system.

The defeat of Ukraine does not mean the end of the war

We reason wrongly in thinking that the defeat of President Zelensky in Donetsk and Lugansk, in Kherson and Zaporijjia, could mark the end of the fighting.
Faced with the resistance Moscow has encountered in enforcing Security Council Resolution 2202, President Putin has declared that he still has to liberate Odessa and join Transnistria. This is precisely what the Pentagon has been looking for since 2019. It is already preparing a second round in Moldova. Not that he wants to defend the Ukrainians, then the Moldavians, but because he intends to strip his own allies.
Figures from the Atlantic Alliance, relayed by Western press agencies, suggest that the Ukrainian people are united and resist thanks to Western weapons. However, those of the Mossad, broadcast by the Turkish site Hürseda Haber attest that they are unrelated to reality.
This phenomenon is not new. For having published during the war in Kosovo a daily bulletin relaying the dispatches of the Western press agencies crossed with those of the press agencies of the Balkans, I am not surprised. NATO has a long experience of lying to its fellow citizens. These are not exaggerations, but outright lies. Older readers remember that they captured the hearts of all Westerners, including those who dreamed them up. At the end of this conflict, the Alliance generously agreed to let the remnants of the Serbian army (it was called “Yugoslavian” at the time) fall back under the protection of the Russian army. It was then that, to everyone's amazement, a number of tanks and planes emerged intact from their underground shelters.
It is certainly not possible, during a war, to know things with precision on a battlefield. The armies themselves count their losses, but do not know whether the missing men are dead or wounded, prisoners or fleeing. Officers must always decide in the vagueness of war, without ever having precise statistics as there are in times of peace.

Volodymyr Zelensky and ethnopolitics

President Zelensky has just been named by Time magazine "Politician of the Year 2022".
It is not having carried out his coup de force in July, thanks to the war. He banned all political parties that opposed him; to assassinate the personalities who resisted him; control all the media, written, audiovisual and internet; prohibit the Russian language; destroy 100 million books; confiscate many assets of the oligarchs, including the one who personally financed it; nationalize the assets of Russian investors and companies; and finally banned the Orthodox Church.
In doing so, it conforms to the objective stated in 1996 in the Constitution (art. 16) by the “integral nationalists”: “to preserve the genetic heritage of the Ukrainian people” (sic). It is ethnopolitics, that is to say a policy recognizing the rights of individuals, but based on the Ukrainian ethnic group.

The Second World War can serve as a lesson to us. She did not appear in a serene sky. This was not a fight of the good guys against the bad guys. It was just triggered by an unforeseen gathering of forces capable of destroying everything.
After the economic crisis of 1929, the whole world was rightly convinced that the capitalism of that time was over. The Soviet Union alone offered an alternative, Bolshevism. Soon the United States imagined a second, the structural reforms of the New Deal, then Italy promoted a third solution, fascism. The great Anglo-Saxon capitalists chose to support a new regime, close to fascism, Nazism. They thought that Germany would attack the USSR, thus preserving their interests threatened by Bolshevik collectivization as well as by US economic reforms. However, nothing worked as planned since Italy, Germany and Japan formed the Axis with their own logic and the war was not started against the Soviets, but against the great fortunes who prepared it.
In the collective imagination, we do not hold responsible the great Anglo-Saxon capitalists who supported Nazism in its infancy. On the contrary, we remember the British and American people as having participated in the victory.

The evolution of the balance of power on the Ukrainian battlefield and the tragic episode of the G20 in Bali mark a reversal of the situation.
If Westerners still believe they will soon defeat Moscow, the United States has already started secret negotiations with Russia. They are preparing to drop Ukraine and blame only Volodymyr Zelensky. As in Afghanistan, the awakening will be brutal.
The Anglo-Saxons (ie London and Washington) wanted to turn the Bali G20 into an anti-Russian summit. They had first lobbied for Moscow to be excluded from the Group, as they succeeded in the G8. But if Russia had been absent, China, by far the world's largest exporter, would not have come. Also, it was the Frenchman Emmanuel Macron who was responsible for convincing the other guests to sign a bloody declaration against Russia. For two days, Western press agencies ensured that the case was in the bag. But, in the end, the final declaration, if it sums up the Western point of view, closes the debate in these words: “There were other points of view and different assessments of the situation and of the sanctions. Recognizing that the G20 is not the forum to resolve security issues, we know that security issues can have significant consequences for the global economy”. In other words, for the first time, Westerners have failed to impose their vision of the world on the rest of the planet.

Who are the Ukrainian nationalists?

Who knows the history of the Ukrainian “integral nationalists”, the “Nazis” according to the terminology of the Kremlin?
It begins during the First World War, continues during the Second, the Cold War and continues today in modern Ukraine. Many documents were destroyed and modern Ukraine prohibits under penalty of prison to evoke their crimes. The fact remains that these people massacred at least four million of their compatriots and designed the architecture of the final solution, that is to say the assassination of millions of people on the grounds of their real membership. or supposed to the Jewish or Gypsy communities of Europe.

Propaganda makes you stupid. We know that the Ukrainian integral nationalists committed abominable massacres, particularly during the Second World War.
But we don't know what they've been doing on our doorstep for thirty years, especially the civil war they've been waging for eight years. Our own stupidity allows us to bear the battle cries of our politicians alongside these criminals.
When war breaks out, governments always believe that they must bolster the morale of their people by showering them with propaganda. The stakes are such, life and death, that the debates are hardening and extremist positions are gaining ground. This is exactly what we are witnessing or rather how we are changing. In this game, the ideas defended by each other have no relation to their ideological presuppositions, but to their proximity to power.
In the etymological sense, propaganda is just the art of convincing, of spreading ideas. But in modern times, it is an art that aims to reconstruct reality to denigrate the adversary and magnify one's own troops.
