Freedom a key value

Réseau InternationalA secret known to all

International Network - Dec 26, 2023

If there is one territory where we can take a step back, it is that of the Middle East. In history, terrible tragedies have taken place on these lands and even today we are witnesses first-hand to a terrible misfortune.

This horror kills but also spreads, like a cloud throughout the world which becomes a little darker. Hope is disappearing, despair is settling in everywhere. The solution is complex and almost insoluble. Just at the ideological level, how can we explain that three religions which initially have a common biblical basis manage to tear each other apart. It's absurd.

If adults don't understand it, how can we explain it to children? Should we leave them in ignorance and helplessness all their lives? Isn’t there a way to offer them a way out? Without going into theology, can't we explain things to them simply.

It is in this spirit that I present to each child this little mathematical and philosophical calculation problem.

How many children are there in your class and in your school? How many schools are there in your country and in the world? How many children have gone to school in 100 years? That's an impressive number. If each hour of teaching represents a small square stone measuring one centimeter on a side, what would be the size of the pyramid that could be built with all these stones? In reality, it is huge.

Since the dawn of time, parents have sought to teach the best to their children who are all more or less hungry for knowledge. If the mass of teachings and knowledge increases naturally, how is it that the world remains so bad, so barbaric? Why this discrepancy? Why is there no development?

The answer has to do with human nature. Since the dawn of time, human dignity can only be acquired in one way, which is the recognition of our own conscience. As soon as man says “I”, he is aware of his freedom of thought. This is the necessary and sufficient condition for total and complete recognition of human dignity. There are no half measures. Moreover, it is this simplicity which guarantees equality between each man.

Freedom is a very special value. First of all, it is the simplest of all values. It is as easy to grasp as a wall. On the other hand, it is universal in the animal world. Even an amoeba examined under a microscope tries to escape from where it has been placed. But above all, the value of freedom is an exclusive value. It is important to note that the human factor does not matter. It's just a question of vocabulary. By definition, Freedom cannot depend on any other value. She must be Free, therefore alone.

If there is no evolution in human nature, it is because of its relationship with the value of freedom.

the Christmas crib - open letter

Gendarme ProfessionThe Christmas Crib – Open letter

Profession Gendarme - 09 Dec 2023

From Jean Pierre Santon

Dear Mr. Court,

A few days ago I learned of your decision to ban the Christmas nativity scene traditionally installed in the hall of the Vendée General Council.
What fly has stung you?

You have studied, I suppose. Perhaps you know that Christmas comes from the Latin “Natalis” which means Birth.

So I am going to tell you a secret that you will want to pass on to your colleagues who perhaps swim complacently in the same ignorance as you.

The birth in question is that of a certain Jesus of Nazareth born a little over 2000 years ago. I say that because since you didn't ban Christmas lights, I assume you didn't know that detail.

You see, Christmas is not the anniversary of the birth of Santa Claus (I'm sorry if I break a belief anchored in you here) but rather that of this Jesus. Banning a crèche without banning any public demonstration of this holiday is as stupid as if you authorized the andouillette festival while prohibiting the consumption of andouillette on the day of the andouillette festival.

The crèche is what we call a tradition. And do not make me believe, Mr. Court, that the principle of tradition is foreign to you. Otherwise how can we explain that magistrates exercise their profession in such a ridiculous costume if not because it is the result of a tradition?

Joyeux Noël

Anthropo-LogicsJean-Dominique Michel: Merry Christmas!

Anthropo-Logics - Dec 27, 2022

Some excerpts from this beautiful video to listen to for appeasement, whether or not you are a believer

“The temptation to uproot, the destructive fury in Europe to raze churches, nativity scenes, statues is very strange.

"To place in each man an equal dignity whatever his origin was the foundation of Christianity, for believers and non-believers... The fear of death is the current lot of the West and alone can explain Covid madness.

“The sense of the sacred is fundamental in the life of each of us. And if he is lost, so is society. Death opposes birth, but not life. Knowing how to be born, knowing how to die. Christmas is the archetypal form of the mystery of life. Birth in wonder and incomprehension of this mystery. Evacuating Christmas is amazing whether you're a Christian or not.

Christmas crib

OuilladeThe Christmas crib maintained despite the Republican condemnation

Ouillade - Dec 25, 2022

It was late yesterday evening Tuesday, December 20, 2022 that the Administrative Court (TA) of Montpellier condemned the municipality to dismantle the Christmas crib installed in the patio of the Hôtel-de-Ville, under penalty of a fine of €100 per day

The decision was eagerly awaited, even if the outcome of the verdict was beyond doubt, precisely in the aftermath of the convictions of other municipalities – that of Béziers (Hérault) in particular -, which found themselves in the same situation. The verdict therefore fell late, in the night from yesterday Tuesday to this Wednesday, December 21, 2023: the Municipality of Perpignan will therefore have to dismantle the crèche installed in the patio of the Hôtel-de-Ville, place de la Loge.

Louis Aliot (RN), mayor of Perpignan, also departmental councilor for the POs and vice-president of the Urban Community Perpignan-Méditerranée Métropole (PMM), was quick to react, announcing the maintenance in the state and in situ of the Christmas crib, which is currently the most visited municipal site! The tradition of the Pessebre (Christmas crib) is a heritage specific to Catalonia which includes figurines similar to the santons of Provence, including a character called the caganer. In France, this unavoidable Catalan tradition during the festive season can be found, for example, in Perpignan with the Pessebre de Sant Vicens.

“Many people from Perpignan have asked us in the name of Catalan tradition, some of them have already come forward to help us pay the fines if necessary (…)”.

Louis Aliot - mayor of Perpignan
