Anti-Tech movement: should we stop all technology?

Can technology save us? To this question, the activists of the ATR movement (Anti-Tech Resistance) answer no, without any hesitation.
According to them, each step in the production and use of technologies is synonymous with the destruction of the environment and the exploitation of humans. Their objective ? Federate struggles and bring together environmental activists to confront the major enemy of the living world: the techno-industrial system. Determination and solidarity are at the heart of this movement, backed by a concrete strategy.
At a time when the ecological crisis is in full swing, many struggles are neglected, even swallowed up, by the climate movement. The latter focuses on decarbonizing the economy, to the point of pinning a large part of its hopes on the industrial world, which is nevertheless one of the major causes of the problem. But then, can we knowingly say that technology “used wisely” could be life-saving for humanity as claimed by fervent defenders of “green” growth? Analysis.

How to militate without burning your wings?

Among people involved in community life and other forms of political engagement, a term is appearing: “militant burn-out”.
Like its cousin in the business world, its contours are broad and cover as much a paroxysmal situation, potentially linked to a traumatic event (violence, defeat, etc.), as a syndrome of exhaustion installed over time, marked by dejection and resignation in the face of a world that would sink inexorably.
To deal with this phenomenon of "militant burn-out", the Ulex organization offers new training on the management of psychosocial risks in militant organizations. In May 2022, in the Catalan Pyrenees, around forty activists aged 19 to 58, from all over Europe, met for a week to discover the secrets of “regenerative activism”.
“We live in a culture of burnout inherent in capitalist society. It is not a question of resetting the counter to zero to continue, but of developing new practices that prefigure the world we want and which are able to heal it: that is regenerative activism”
