New details have been revealed about federal surveillance of everyone who watched certain videos on YouTube
Recently, it became known that US courts were ordering YouTube (Google) to provide user information – a form of draconian investigation that has never been reported before. Additional details about this practice are emerging today.
Forbes revealed the matter last month after seeing documents showing a court ruling affected all YouTube users who watched certain videos in a given period. The personal data requested by law enforcement agencies in these cases was very detailed.
For Google users, this is information from their Google accounts (name, address, phone number and records, online payment history, IP address, etc.), while all others People visiting the URLs listed in the order had their IP addresses returned.
A year-long publication ban allowed Google to ensure none of this was made public, and now we're hearing about it because that deadline has expired.
However, the documents on which the original article was based were not published at the time; today, reports indicate that they have been made available on the Bluesky platform.
The order covers the first eight days of 2023 and three YouTube videos that are apparently obscure and innocuous in themselves (the target of the investigation was a person suspected of illegal activity, while the URLs of the videos were "swapped") during communication between undercover investigators and their target).

The bill seeks to "prohibit the intentional injection, release, or dispersal, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or devices within the borders of this State in the atmosphere, for the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or intensity of sunlight.”
Lawmakers in the great state of Tennessee passed a bill this week to ban the spraying of chemicals into the atmosphere, a government weather manipulation technique known as "geoengineering."
The bill continues: "The intentional injection, release, or dispersal, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or devices within the borders of this State in the "atmosphere for the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather or intensity of sunlight is prohibited."
For years, many have suspected the government of spraying aerosolized particles into the atmosphere – in the form of streaks of white clouds that do not dissipate – not only manipulate the weather, but also destroy the ecosystem of Earth.
This bill comes as prominent geoscientists have recently accused the United Nations of conspiring to destroy Earth's environment.
In their article, published in the “Advances In Social Sciences Research Journal” in September 2022, James Marvin Herndon and Mark Whiteside warned that “time is running out to bring a definitive end to all geoengineering activities,” especially “aerosolized coal fly ash that they say is sprayed by jet planes” and “into the troposphere,” where it “systematically destroys Earth’s support systems and poisons life on this planet.”
The US federal government has also tacitly admitted to engaging in this practice, called stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI). Former CIA Director John Brennan described it as "a method of seeding the stratosphere with particles that can help reflect the sun's heat, in the same way that volcanic eruptions do."

The National Guard is only supposed to be deployed in emergency situations. But today it is used for all sorts of things.
For example, hundreds of National Guard troops are used to check the bags of passengers on the New York subway. This is a very worrying precedent, and I don't understand why more people aren't upset about it. We just learned that National Guard troops will be deployed during the Great American Eclipse on April 8. What do they hope will happen during this eclipse?
This will undoubtedly be a historic event.
As I said previously, this is expected to be the most watched astronomical event in our country's history.
On April 8, millions of Americans will travel to locations where they will be in the path of the total solar eclipse. Oklahoma is being touted as one of the best states for this, and it is reported that the Oklahoma National Guard will "provide first responders as well as units with hazardous materials response capabilities"...

Survey after survey shows that Americans have lost trust in the mainstream media and that millions of us have decided to turn to other sources of information. Major media outlets have been losing viewers and readers for years, and now many of the biggest names in the news industry are losing huge sums of money. It was only a matter of time before we saw large-scale layoffs, and now we have.
Of course, it's not just mainstream media that's laying people off. According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, the number of layoffs in the United States in 2023 was 98% higher than in 2022…
The pace of job cuts by U.S. employers accelerated in 2023, with the number of layoffs jumping 98% from the previous year.
That's according to a new report released by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, which found that companies planned 721 job cuts last year, a significant increase from the 677 layoffs reported in 363.
The problem could worsen in 2024 as the jobs market continues to weaken in the face of high interest rates and stubborn inflation.
But it is true that the information industry is particularly affected. For example, Time Magazine just announced that it would lay off workers “across multiple departments, including editorial, technology, sales and TIME studios”…

Amid speculation about its future, Paramount Global is carrying out a new wave of staff reductions in February, according to sources who spoke to Deadline. I've heard these reductions will affect hundreds of employees across the company.
For several days, rumors have been circulating about the imminent layoff of around 800 people within Paramount. This follows a WSJ [Wall Street Journal] report in December that the company was considering potentially cutting more than 1000 jobs in early 2024 to cut costs.
Paramount is the parent company of CBS, and so it's likely that CBS' news division is about to get even smaller.
Of course, NBC's news division is shrinking too...
NBC News has laid off several dozen employees, the latest of dozens of companies to start the new year with bad news for its employees, USA TODAY confirmed Friday.
A source familiar with the plans said employees were given 60 days' notice and will receive severance and outplacement services.

The United States has formed an international coalition to protect Western maritime traffic in the Red Sea, Operation Prosperity Guardian. The United States knows that the Yemenis are a people who fear nothing and who do not bluff. On the other hand, the Yemenis know that the Americans are bluffing.
The United States announced this week the creation of a multinational naval force to counter Yemen's blockade of the Red Sea. They also warned that they were ready to carry out military strikes in retaliation against the Arab country.
The stakes are considerable. By controlling the narrow Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which opens into the Indian Ocean, Yemenis control the vitally important global Red Sea shipping route. The impact of closing this chokepoint on global trade is enormous. This is why the Americans and their European allies took action by threatening retaliatory measures.
In response, the Yemeni armed forces, allied with the Houthi rebel movement, sent the Americans packing.
The Yemenis have warned they have ballistic missiles to sink any warship or submarine the United States and its allies deploy in the region. The Yemenis added that they would continue to block cargo ships using the Red Sea route until the genocide in Gaza stops.
Over the past week, Yemen has intensified its ban on cargo ships attempting to transit the Red Sea route. Several major shipping conglomerates have confirmed that their ships are being rerouted around the African continent. Additional transportation costs and disrupted supply chains are already increasing price inflation in Western economies, adding to already painful economic hardship and political damage for governments scorned by struggling populations.
The Yemenis say they are only targeting ships linked to Israel, but it appears the deteriorating security situation in the narrow maritime corridor is discouraging all shipping companies. The Bab el-Mandeb Strait, 32 kilometers wide, straddles Yemen and the Horn of Africa. Hundreds of container ships and tankers use it every day to transport goods from Asia to Europe via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, the other choke point further north, in Egypt. Closing a choke point results in the closure of the entire road.
The United States has attempted to portray the Navy task force as a law enforcement operation aimed at protecting international commerce and freedom of navigation.
The Yemenis, meanwhile, said their disruption of Israeli-affiliated shipping was a legitimate action in solidarity with the Palestinians.
US Secretary of State Lloyd Austin announced the new naval coalition, dubbed “Operation Prosperity Guardian”. “The recent escalation of reckless Houthi attacks from Yemen threatens the free flow of trade, endangers innocent sailors and violates international law. The Red Sea is a waterway essential to freedom of navigation and a major trade corridor that facilitates international trade. Countries seeking to uphold the fundamental principle of freedom of navigation must come together to meet the challenge posed by this non-state actor launching ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at merchant ships of many nations which transit legally in international waters.
Mohammed Abdel-Salam, spokesperson for Yemen's Houthi rebels, responded: "The US-led coalition aims to protect Israel and militarize the Red Sea without any justification, and it will not prevent the Yemen to continue its legitimate support operations in Gaza. We do not demonstrate force against anyone [except Israel]. Anyone who seeks to extend the conflict must face the consequences of their actions.”
The Americans are trying to make it appear that the Yemenis are acting as criminal sea pirates and that the US-led task force nobly serves the interests of international trade and peaceful shipping.
Washington and its allies cannot publicly admit that their actions are aimed at supporting Israel. The genocidal offensive on Gaza since October 7, during which nearly 20 civilians were murdered, is politically untenable for Israel's Western allies.
The naval task force launched by the United States this week includes nine other nations: Britain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway, as well as the Seychelles and Bahrain. The latter two countries are token non-Western parties which give the impression that this is not overtly a Western imperialist coalition. Bahrain is where the US Navy's Fifth Fleet is based in the Persian Gulf, and so it makes sense that this small monarchy would be included in simple logistics.
However, the notable fact is that no other Gulf Arab nation is involved in the task force. Egypt is also absent, although it is an important Red Sea coastal country, as is Saudi Arabia. Their absence belies the official US justification. If Operation Prosperity Guardian was truly about protecting international trade and shipping, why aren't the Red Sea Arab states joining in? Of course, they don't, because the task force's real goal is to help Israel.

Yemen's Houthi militia has shown that a small army can take on the American empire and win.
She showed how courage, determination and commitment to principle can act as a force multiplier allowing a much weaker army to “punch above its weight”. They also showed that a few well-placed missiles in key locations on the world's most critical shipping lanes can shake the global economy and shake the "rules-based order" to its foundations. In short, the Houthis have shown that David can take down Goliath without breaking a sweat, provided David maintains his perch along the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
Here's what's happening: The Houthis occupy an area along the narrowest part of the Red Sea, which is the most important shipping corridor in the world. It is “responsible for 12% of international trade and almost a third of global container traffic”. When vessel traffic is disrupted along this waterway, insurance premiums skyrocket, retail commodity prices rise, and oil prices soar. This is why Western powers are committed to keeping these sea lanes permanently open, whatever the cost.
“Yemen said it would end the blockade of ships to Israel as soon as sufficient quantities of food, water and medicine were allowed into the Gaza Strip. I guess that's too much to ask."

Four things to know today.
Recently, we have heard powerful bankers and politicians express their desire to ban Bitcoin.
The idea that the US government is going to ban Bitcoin is popular for good reason.
Bitcoin threatens an important source of government power – the power to create fake money out of thin air and force everyone to use it.
This is because Bitcoin can give monetary sovereignty to the individual and make central banks and their confetti currencies obsolete.
This is not an easy task.
This is a historic development that profoundly modifies the status quo between leaders and those led. It is comparable to the invention of gunpowder, the printing press and the Internet.
There is no doubt that the US government would like to protect its racket from an encroaching monetary competitor, the same way the Mafia does when a rival encroaches on its territory.
The $64 question is whether they will succeed.
Friedrich Hayek, the great Austrian free market economist, once said:
"I don't believe we'll have good currency again until we get the thing out of the hands of the government, that is, we can't take it violently out of the hands of the government, all we can to do is to introduce by a roundabout and sneaky means something which they cannot stop.
Hayek is right.
By nature, governments never relinquish power peacefully. And while taking power away from them by force is out of the question, the only way to do that is to introduce, through a back door, something they can't stop.
Is Bitcoin this solution?
Many people think the answer is “no” because the government will stop it.
Can anyone stop Bitcoin?
Bitcoin has no central authority or single point of failure.
It operates on a decentralized, voluntary and rapidly expanding global network of more than 17 computers in nearly 300 countries.
Any desktop computer, laptop, Raspberry Pi – and even some cell phones – have the ability to run the entire Bitcoin software. Additionally, as technology advances, Bitcoin execution will become even more widespread.
Many of these computers are cleverly hidden by Tor, which stands for "The Onion Router." This router encrypts your internet traffic and disguises it by passing it through a series of computers around the world to obfuscate your IP address and physical location.
Regardless, with Bitcoin, there is no central location for a SWAT team to raid. There is no CEO to stop. The best governments can do is play an endless game of global whack-a-mole.
Even if the United States and Russia engaged in all-out nuclear war, destroying most of the northern hemisphere, Bitcoin would not lose a beat in the southern hemisphere.
To have any chance of stopping Bitcoin, all governments in the world would have to manage to coordinate simultaneously to shut down the entire Internet everywhere and keep it down forever.
Even in this unlikely scenario, the Bitcoin network can be communicated through radio signals and mesh networks. At the same time, small portable solar panels can power network computers when the power grid is unavailable.
In addition, a network of satellites constantly transmits the Bitcoin network to Earth.
In short, all aspects of Bitcoin are truly decentralized and robust.
Unless there is an inevitable return to the Stone Age, Bitcoin seems unstoppable.

However, from the first months of its operation, Washington and London supported Israel against the Palestinian people. It's comical that they would even attempt to audit the Pentagon when they know the agency will fail miserably. The government spent $187 million to carry out this insignificant audit of 700 sites. This year, like the previous year, only 7 of the 29 sub-audits were successful. HALF of the declared assets were found nowhere by the 1600 auditors involved. How can trillions of dollars disappear?
Trillions have disappeared since the period leading up to September 11, 2001. There is no investigation underway to determine the whereabouts of these funds that belong to taxpaying citizens. The September 11, 2001 attack occurred a day after former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld sounded the alarm and informed the public that $2300 trillion in transactions could not be traced. The demolition of WTC7 on September 11 destroyed the room where the Pentagon audit was taking place and which happened to be the location of my computer system. I received a letter from the SEC explaining that everything had simply been destroyed and no further questions could be asked.
This was just the tip of the Pentagon's long history of misplacing trillions of dollars. In May, the Pentagon admitted to misplacing thousands of F-35 jet parts worth $1,6 billion. Then, in June, the Pentagon announced that it had misplaced more than $6,2 billion in funds intended for Ukraine. “We have confirmed that for FY2023, the final calculation is $3,6 billion, and for FY22, $2,6 billion, for a combined total of $6,2 billion” , said the Pentagon press secretary. “These assessment errors do not in any way limit or restrict the size of our Defense assistance programs, nor do they impact support provided to Ukraine.” The Pentagon blamed the missing funds on an “accounting error” and never discussed the situation again. The press secretary said their main concern was simply being able to continue paying money to Ukraine.
Lloyd Austin has served as Secretary of Defense since January 2021. Instead of focusing on his duties at home, Austin traveled to Ukraine days after the failed audit to provide support to Zelensky. “We will stay with you for the long haul. What happened here in Ukraine is important not only for Ukraine, but also for the rest of the world. It’s certainly important for the United States of America,” he said.
