The global situation regarding the massacre in Gaza

VoltairenetThe global situation regarding the massacre in Gaza

Voltairenet - Feb 08, 2024

At every moment, people wonder if the massacre in Gaza will not degenerate into a World War.

It could be, but it isn't. All the protagonists in the Levant act with restraint, each avoiding the irreparable, while the Jewish supremacists of Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition inexorably advance their pawns.

At the end of four months of war in Gaza against the Palestinian people and against the Hamas current belonging to the Palestinian Resistance, but never against that obeying the Muslim Brotherhood, the different actors have displayed their position.

While pretending to its citizens to fight against Hamas in general, Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition works to terrorize Gazans to make them flee. The deprivations, tortures and massacres are not an end in themselves, just means to achieve annexation of this land.

Ansar Allah, the powerful Yemeni political party, took the initiative to attack Israeli ships or ships stopping in Israel in the Red Sea, demanding an end to the massacre in Gaza. Gradually, it also attacked ships linked to states supporting this massacre. The United Nations Security Council recalled that international law prohibits attacks on civilian ships while recognizing that the problem will not be resolved as long as the massacre continues.

The United States, while opposing the massacre of Palestinian civilians, has shown solidarity with the Jewish Israeli population in its blind vengeance against them. They continued to supply the IDF with shells, while calling on Tel Aviv to let in the required humanitarian aid. On this same political line, they took charge of the problem posed by the resistance of the Yemenis by creating Operation “Guardian of Prosperity”. They involved their Western cronies in violation of the authority of the United Nations Security Council, which has never authorized military intervention in Yemen. However, the French military staff withdrew from this alliance after two days, highlighting its conscientious objection to covering the Gaza massacre. Moreover, the Western bombings did not succeed in hitting the military centers of Ansar Allah.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which have just fought a long war in Yemen, refrained from joining “Guardian of Prosperity” and, on the contrary, signed a peace agreement with Ansar Allah. Everyone agreed on the position of the Arab League, formulated in 2002: recognition and normalization with Israel upon the creation of a Palestinian state.

Egypt, which, through a domino effect, lost 45% of its revenues from the Suez Canal, did not turn against Ansar Allah. On the contrary, Cairo contacted him and publicly praised his effort in favor of the Palestinian people. At most, he called on his interlocutors not to completely block the Red Sea. Chinese and Russian ships continue to move freely and Ansar Allah has announced that it is restricting its targets.

Iran, after having called on its various partners in the Axis of Resistance not to aggravate the situation, suddenly came out of its reserve. Tehran has bombed sites linked to Israel or the United States in three separate states: Syria illegally occupied by the United States, Iraq where its presence is legal but not some of its activities, and Pakistan where it supports a Baluch separatist movement.

The White House responded that these attacks would not go unpunished, but did nothing immediately. If its response is light, all the protagonists will conclude that Washington is only a “paper tiger”, if it is strong, it risks opening the way to a Third World War.

Syria applauded. Iraq protested, paying lip service to the fact that there has never been a Mossad base in its autonomous region of Kurdistan. Then he asked Western Forces to withdraw from the country.
Pakistan, whose new government Washington hoped would be ready to go to war against Iran, has, under the influence of its army, rallied to Tehran in its fight against pro-US separatists

It is in this context that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued its provisional order in the case between South Africa and Israel, which it accuses of allowing a genocide to be carried out under the responsibility of certain of its leaders. The Court, chaired by a former official of the US State Department, reached by an overwhelming majority of 15 judges against 2, a decision corresponding in every respect to the position of the United States: it recognized that there was suspicion of genocide and ordered Israel to ensure that the required humanitarian aid entered Gaza, but was careful not to go further. She said nothing about demands for reparations for victims, nor about Israel's condemnation of individuals guilty of genocide. Above all, she refrained from saying that “the Israeli state must immediately suspend its military operations inside and against Gaza”.

Pretending to agree to comply with this order, Israel liberated the Rafah crossing and announced measures in favor of the passage of international humanitarian aid. However, at the same time, he accused the United Nations agency responsible for distributing this aid (UNRWA) of being an arm of “terrorists”. He sent Washington evidence of the participation of 12 Agency employees in the October 7 operation. Without delay, the United States suspended its aid and convinced a dozen aid states to follow suit. Suddenly deprived of resources, UNRWA no longer has the possibility of transporting this aid to Gaza and distributing it.

Washington, which until now had pleaded for humanitarian aid to civilians, has therefore hardened its position by participating in the destruction of the appropriate United Nations agency. However, he pursues his dream of a “two-state solution”. By moving towards the dissolution of UNRWA, the West is depriving stateless Palestinians of the passports that only the United Nations can issue them. In fact, they also prevent the “voluntary” exile of this bombed and starving population that the European Union was already preparing to receive.

Emboldened by this support, 11 ministers from Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition appeared at a festive event, organized by Kol Barama radio at the Jerusalem International Convention Center. It was titled: “Israel Victory Conference – Settlements Bring Security: Return to the Gaza Strip and Northern Samaria.” Speakers, including Itamar Ben-Gvir, Minister of National Security and president of the Jewish Force (Otzma Yehudit) party, assured that there would never be peace with the Arabs and that only the colonization of the entire Palestine could bring security to the Jews. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, present on site, approved.

These belligerent remarks shocked the opposition to the coalition, whether outside the war government (like Yaïr Lapid) or within it (like Yaakov Margi or General Benny Ganz). Above all, they exasperated Washington, which reacted in two ways to this slap. First, he asked his associates not to receive Jewish supremacists (like Amichai Chikli, Minister of Diaspora Affairs, who was expected in Berlin), then he decreed sanctions against some of them. These measures are more important than they seem since they immediately prohibit any international fundraising and bank transfers. They should quickly weaken the Jewish supremacists and, in turn, favor the others.

We quickly learned that Washington had first considered including ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich on the list of people sanctioned before abandoning it. The latter then simply retorted that Joe Biden's accusation that West Bank settlers are violent is “an anti-Semitic lie spread among the enemies of Israel”.
