In the Hautes-Pyrénées no calculators! … just the fingers to reach “heights”

Who said mental arithmetic was boring for students?

Demonstration of different CMR (Rapid Mental Calculation) techniques used at the Sainte-Bernadette school in Tarbes in CM1-CM2. The gestures are unique to us. It is freely adapted from the Indian "abacus finger" gesture. The addition techniques and the spelling of numbers are inspired by those of Scott Flansburg, most of the other techniques are personal to our school: we have adapted them to children from Trachtenberg techniques or Vedic techniques.

These children are not gifted but ordinary children. And above all, everyone succeeds, including children who were still in difficulty 6 months ago. This result is achieved thanks to a professional and passionate teaching team.
